Panel Discussion at Centre for East European and International Studies (ZOiS)

14.03.2023 Dr. Orest Semotiuk participated in the Panel Discussion «Virtual Battlefields of the Russo-Ukrainian War: Digital Media, Disinformation and Visualization of the Conflict». The online event was organized by Centre for East European and International Studies (ZOiS) in Berlin.

Dr. Semotiuk was a speaker in the Section 1: “Beyond Words: Examining the Role of Popular Culture in Communicating War”. In his presentation “Battle of images: the Russo-Ukrainian War in national and international political cartoons and memes” he stated that new technologies, political humor and media culture not only transform how wars are fought, but also influence the representation and perception of military conflicts triggering emotional responses.
